Snow had drifted up against the posts on both sides, and the overcast light was so flat that the hills in the background just dissolved into the sky. No shadows, no definition, no horizon line to speak of. I stopped because the simplicity of it caught me. Dark posts, white ground, a narrow road heading into nothing. That was it.
