Peak, King Haakon Bay, South GeorgiaKing Haakon Bay sits on the south west coast of South Georgia, and this peak rises above the glacial snowfield with a kind of quiet authority. Dark rock breaking through heavy snow and ice, jagged at the summit, with crevasse lines cutting across the glacier below. The light was soft and diffused, mid afternoon I think, which gave the whole scene a remarkable clarity. No wind, no blowing snow. Just that pale blue sky and the mountain. This is the bay
