Laila The LapwingLaila was inspired by a blustery winters walk over the somerset levels. Amid the long grasses I spotted a long crested wading bird and realised that I must have seen my first lapwing. Lapwings or peewits as they are often known, look black and white from a distance, but up close, the back has a bright iridescent green and purple sheen.
