Ice Cave Abstract, Breiðamerkursjökull, IcelandBreiamerkursjkull is an outlet glacier of Vatnajkull, Europe's largest ice cap. Getting inside one of its ice caves is a remarkable experience. The scale of the place disappears when you get close to the ice itself, and that's what drew me here. This is glacial ice compressed over centuries, and the deep blue colour comes from that compression forcing out air bubbles.
