Iceberg under Stormy Skies, SvalbardThis iceberg was drifting in open water off Svalbard, a massive tabular block of glacial ice sitting heavy and low against a dark sea. The flat overcast light that day stripped out all distraction, leaving just the raw colour of the ice itself. That blue is remarkable. Deep, saturated, concentrated by centuries of compression before the glacier calved it into the Arctic Ocean. What drew me to this particular berg was the erosion along its waterline.
