Foxford Michael Collins ThrowIn July 1922, a specially commissioned FOXFORD travel blanket was presented to General Michael Collins to mark his appointment to Commander in chief of the newly established Irish Army. In August of the same year, his armoured car was ambushed at Bal Na Blth and he was killed. The blanket, which had been in the car with him, was recovered at Shanakiel Hospital by Nurse Nora ODonaghue and later donated to the National Museum. We are proud to have
