Glacier in the Mist, SvalbardThe glacier surface is scarred with crevasses and compression ridges, the ice buckling under its own immense weight. Patches of turquoise blue break through where the pressure has been greatest, the colour vivid against the grey white expanse. A dark nunatak rises through low cloud in the background, its peak half swallowed by mist. I made this photograph in Svalbard during overcast conditions, the light flat and diffuse with just a faint warmth
