Holla Old Fellow Take a Chew, Early 19th C. Lacquered Papier Mache Snuff BoxI'm so often struck by the playful the use of language on 19th century objects, from snuff to Battersea boxes, and on transferware pottery, too. This snuff box I believe dates to the 1820s or so, as I've found a few other examples with gold text of a similar ilk, and I especially love seeing the use of "Holla" on this one! Pretty fun. 2 7 8" x 1 3 4" x 3 4". Good condition, with a little surface lost on the face, as evident. Great structural condition.
